Justin Timberlake Promises 'Warts-And-All' Film Portrayal Of Elton John
Justin Timberlake (news) promises a "warts-and-all" treatment of Elton John (news) in an upcoming film about the British music icon. Timberlake was hand-picked by John to star in the $40 million movie, which so far has no title. Timberlake recently told the British website Digital Spy that he's been hands-on in making sure the script accurately depicts John's life: "Knowing what a wild existence Sir Elton has led, I thought 'Wow, you're offering me that role?' but when I read the script all the wild stuff had been left out. I told the studio that it would have to be warts-and-all so that's what it's going to be. I can't wait to get started."
The film is expected to start shooting later this year, with a 2006 release planned. Timberlake also portrays a vintage John from the Seventies in a video for "Rocket Man" that's part of John's the Red Piano show at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
John, who postponed some recent concerts due to illness, is scheduled to perform on Friday (March 18) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
