NEW YORK -- A 48-year-old mechanic has been accused of raping at least seven children between the ages of 7 and 11, some after they visited his own school-age children.
Michael Flory, of West Hempstead, was arrested Friday after one of his alleged victims reported being the victim of abuse, police and prosecutors said.
Other parents who lived near Flory's former home in College Point, Queens, spoke to their children and discovered they also had been abused, said Pat Clark, a spokesman for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.
Flory was awaiting arraignment Friday afternoon. Clark said he did not know if he had a lawyer.
Flory allegedly raped, sodomized and otherwise sexually abused the five girls and two boys in his home and in his van between March 1 and March 11. He faces first-degree rape and other charges and could face as many as 50 years in prison if convicted.
