Glens Falls man arrested for bomb threat
QUEENSBURY -- A Glens Falls man was arrested late Thursday on a charge he threatened to blow up the Warren County Department of Social Services building earlier this week.
Michael A. Mitchell, 27, of 48E Henry Hudson Town Houses was charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony, said State Police Senior Investigator Bud York.
He is accused of leaving a message on an answering machine at the Department of Social Services threatening to "blow it up," York said. There are no indications he planned to follow up on the threat, but the charge can be brought simply for making the threat, he said.
The threat came after a caseworker from Child Protective Services had visited his home, York said.
Mitchell was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and sent to Warren County Jail without bail. He has at least one prior felony conviction.
The investigation was handled by State Police Investigator David Mosher and Trooper Kate Babcock, assisted by Glens Falls Police.
