Glens Falls resident gets 4 years in prison for stealing money from Curtis Lumber Co.
BALLSTON SPA * A Glens Falls man will serve up to 4 years in prison Wednesday for stealing thousands of dollars while working for a Ballston lumber company.
Kenneth M. Vassar, 41, falsified return receipts and stole money from his employer, Curtis Lumber Co., Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy III said.
He was arrested by State Police on Feb. 2, 2006.
Vassar, of 39 Prospect St., Glens Falls, pleaded guilty to a felony count of second-degree forgery on Nov. 3, Murphy said. He was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in state prison.
Vassar was ordered to return to court March 15 for a hearing to determine restitution, Murphy said.
The District Attorney's Office is alleging he owes more than $10,000.
Vassar pleaded guilty to stealing more than $9,000 from All-Star Motors, a car dealership in Saratoga Springs, in 2004. He was sentenced to 6 months in Saratoga County Jail and 5 years' probation at that time.
Prosecutors said Vassar had created a company called All-Star Detailing. While employed at All-Star Motors, Vassar would then take checks made out to All-Star Detailing and cash them, according to previously published reports.
