ROCKVILLE, Md. -- A 14-year-old Rockville, Md., boy has been arrested and charged with using a stolen cell phone to make bomb threats to his school.
Police said the first call was made at 7:20 a.m., Thursday. According to a dispatcher, the caller said he was going to blow up Walter Johnson High School located in Bethesda, Md., if school security and the police didn't get back some items that had been stolen from him.
The Emergency Call Center of the Montgomery County Police Department then notified the school.
But police said the ECC received another call from the same caller, who repeated his threatening statements.
Investigators said they learned from a student that the cell phone used to make the threatening calls was stolen on Feb. 1. Then with the help of that student and school staff, a 14-year-old student was located and police said he had the stolen cell phone in his possession.
An officer found the cell phone made a 911 call during the time frame of the bomb threats.
Officials said the 14-year-old was taken into custody and charged as a juvenile with threatening to explode a destructive device, theft under $500 and willfully disturbing the orderly conduct of the classes of school.
The suspect was released to the custody of a parent.
