Corianna Thompson has been charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of Jean Balashek
After an extensive investigation, police have arrested Corianna Thompson in the strangling death of her mother, eighty-six year old Jean Balashek. Police say Thompson killed her mother in the New Scotland home they shared together.
On March 13th, forty-five year old Thompson placed a frantic phone call to police where she claimed she found her mother on the floor. That phone call quickly turned into a murder investigation when lab results revealed Balashek was strangled.
Thompson, who once lived as a man named Cory Balashek, served 9 years for murdering a woman back in 1981. Police believe money was the motive for Baleshek's murder.
Thompson was arrested Sunday morning at Samaritan Hospital after being treated for a possible overdose. She is charged with second degree murder and is being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
