Special Olympics New York
2007 Summer Games Coming to Albany This June

Over 2,000 Athletes and Coaches to Participate

The swirl of preparations have just begun for an equally spectacular Olympic competition. Special Olympics New York is excited to announce that its 2007 Summer Games will be returning to Albany. The Games will take place from June 14-17 at several venues around the Capital District.

"We put on over 400 events a year around New York but the Capital District always affords us a magnificent competition. When you are offered first-rate venues and dedicated community and corporate support, the decision to come back to the Capital District was easy," said Neal Johnson, President and CEO of SONY.

For three days, over 2,000 athletes and coaches will put their training and skills to the test in 8 Olympic-style events including: a quatics, basketball, bowling, gymnastics, powerlifting, track & field, tennis and volleyball .

The weekend will also include Opening Ceremonies on Thursday night and Closing Ceremonies and a Victory Dance when competition concludes on Saturday

Summer Games are presented by Price Chopper and are made possible through the generosity of many sponsors including: State Sponsors: New York Lottery and NYS United Teachers.

I asked if I could volunteer for them because GE was asking us to volunteer. They emailed me back saying that I wasn't approved to take the time off work.
