NEWTON, N.J. - A Sussex County grand jury has indicted a middle school principal on charges he molested a 13-year-old girl during a ride back from a Jets game in 2003.
Frank T. Mobilio of Wantage faces one count of criminal sexual contact and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. The 45-year-old married father of three is free on $20,000 bail and remains on suspension from his job as principal of George Washington Middle School in Wayne.
The indictment handed up Thursday alleges Mobilio sexually assaulted the girl, who was not one of Mobilio's students, in the back seat of his van on the way home from the Jets game on Oct. 12, 2003. Two other 44-year-old Wantage men and a 10-year-old girl were also in the vehicle, according to the indictment.
One of the men told police he saw Mobilio drink at least 14 beers before, during and after the game, and also said he witnessed Mobilio expose himself to the girl in the van's rearview mirror.
The two crimes carry a maximum penalty of 6 1/2 years in prison.
