A Suncoast woman named Mrs. Robinson is charged with throwing a big beer party for teenagers.

Charlotte county deputies arrested 51 year old Barbara Jo Robinson Sunday morning at her home on Pinehurst Court in Rotonda West.

Investigators say Mrs. Robinson threw the illegal party after the Lemon Bay High School homecoming dance. And she admitted she bought the beer with the students' money.

Mrs. Robinson told deputies "It was a big mistake!" And added she now knows what she did was wrong but she was trying to provide a safe environment for the kids to hang out and drink.

Deputies said they took photos of beer cans in the yard and "cases upon cases of beer that were empty in the laundry room."

Many students still at the party gave statements to deputies and their parents were called to pick up them up. Eight of these students were under the age of 18.

Mrs. Robinson also said she, "took all of their car keys and made it clear that everyone who was drinking would have to stay the night at her house." The only students who left the party had designated drivers whom she said she made sure they did not drink any alcoholic beverages.

"It was a big mistake! She said she lost total control of the situation and has learned her lesson and this will never happen again.

Deputies charged Mrs. Robinson with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and allowing minors alcohol at an open house party.

She's out of the Charlotte County jail on 15-hundred dollars bond.
