Uh, ahem... what's the lead lap?

All the cars start on the lead lap which is the lap the current leader is on.
So if the leader is on the 10th lap every car that has also run 10 laps behind him is on the lead lap.
If the leader passes the last car, that last car is now 1 lap down and not on the lead lap.

The Nascar point system is much more detailed than ours but similar. They get points for each lap they run, they get points for finishing poistion, and bonus points for leading a lap, and bonus points for leading the most laps.

With the money version of this pool it cost $100 for the season per person. The Winner of each race wins $50 and ten end of the season points pay out goes to the top 10 in points and then $50 for last place and there would be 2 wild card $50 payouts between 11th place and 35th place which would be picked at the begining of the season.

If this was a money pool you would pay $100 at the start of the season. Each race the winner gets $50 and the points are given to the top 5 finishers in the race. After the final race of the year the money payouts are given to the top point finishers, last place and then 2 wild car spots.

No there is $5 left over which is absorbed by the person running the pool. Usually it is done in person and that $5 is used up by printing out the line up sheet and sending out the checks to the winners.

The trick is to stop while your ahead. Problem with something like this Nascar pool is that there's absolutely nothing you can do to influence it, no way out of it if it starts going south, etc. You just sort of put your 100 in and hope for the best, over the course of what, a couple, three, six months?

With something like poker, though, you can quit while you're ahead. But over time, you should just about break even with the dealer. Over enough time. Unless you're really stupid and or unlucky, at which point your legs get broken.

I was looking into the Golden Casino because, well, they obviously have a lot of money to toss around what with buying tattoo space on stupid peoples foreheads, right? (that's how I remembered them, what they wanted) but anyway, I was looking at Blackjack (21) and the odds, etc. and came to the conclusion that I'd be just the same off money wise if I just kept out of it. I don't enjoy it enough to do it for fun, so... meh.
