Here is the 2008 s0lidgr0und Nascar Pool

I have taken the top 36 posters/users of the site for the pool. The pool is free and the winner will get a prize (most likely free membership for a year).

There are 36 races and your starting position will rotate each week so every member will have the same chances during the course of the season.

Points are awarded each race to the top 5 finishers of the top 36 starting positions.
1st - 7 points
2nd - 5 points
3rd - 3 points
4th - 2 points
5th - 1 point

If a driver who qualified in postion #37 or higher and they finish in the top 5 the next highest pool driver will get the points.
Example:
1st - #5 (7 points)
2nd - #32 (5 points)
3rd - #40 (0 points did not qualify top 36)
4th - #1 (3 points)
5th - #25 (2 points)
6th - #14 (1 point)

Final point ties will be broken by the following: The person who has more weekly wins gets the higher finishing spot in the points, if there is still a tie after wins the tie-breaker will be the higher number of 2nd’s thru 5th’s. If there is still a tie after going through finishing positions the person who scored the highest point total first will get the higher finishing spot. Example – 2 people tie with 1 win a piece. One person won The Daytona 500 and the other won The Brickyard 400, the person who won Daytona would get the spot because that race was earlier on the year’s schedule.

The race has been red flagged for a long time. They claim they are going to finish it and it is due to restart at 1am ET.

Well after saying they will start at 1am, then at 1 am saying they will start at 2am, they have decided at 2am to postpone the race until 1pm Monday.

The problem is they have few open weekends to reschedule these races so they do about anything to get them in even if the stands are empty by Monday afternoon.

I want to get to Dover. Been by the track many times and it looks like a big bowl with seats all the way around the mile. Looks like any seat is good there. They say it's one of the loudest, though, so bring ear plugs.

My parents went to dover last year on the yankee trails tour. They had admission to both races (?) and hotel plus back and forth to and from the hotel. The race itself was post poned till the next day last year, and the got to stay the extra night for nothing, and watch the race the next day.

They seemed to enjoy it.

Correct. And then the next week you have the next qualifying spot, in your case #21. I am hoping that this season of a free version we can get 36 people to do it as a money pool in 2009. It is the easiest and most fair pool I have ever seen.

I was happy I got a top 5. I knew I had a chance for Burton to get into the top ten and with something lucky he could make it into the top 5 so I could get some points. That lucky thing ended up being Gordon crashing and taking out Kenseth. Since they were running 2nd & 3rd at the time I moved from 7th to 5th and 1 point. WAHOO!!

He was running great too. Huge lead with no one in sight of catching him. Nascar black flagged him due to all the smoke he was pumping on the track.

I think they had 41 of 43 cars finish the race. Only a dozen or so on the lead lap. No multi-car crashes, just a few solo spin outs.

They definately take a hit and keep on going. The tires are getting bad though. I don't know if it is because the tires did not change with the car or what but they are getting blasted by the drivers. Tony Stewart went off after the race saying that is Goodyear can't do a better job then maybe they have no place in Nascar and how every other racing organization across the world has dropped Goodyear for someone else.

It is pretty basic. I drew initial starting positions before the 1st race of the season. You started the first race with the 4th qualifyer of that race. Each race your starting spot goes up by one position. That way everyone gets the exact same chances of having each qualifying position once during the season of 36 races. If your driver for that race, this week you had Jeff Burton, finishes in the top 5 you gets points.
