Iraq approves execution of 'Chemical Ali'

The member of parliament spoke on the condition of anonymity because he said he is not authorized to speak on behalf of the council. The state-run media in Iraq also carried news saying the council had approved the execution.
Al-Majeed was sentenced to death for his role in an offensive by the Iraqi military that killed up to 100,000 people in Iraq's Kurdish region.
An execution date has not been set, the member of parliament said.
