I am looking at doing a basic football pool this season. It will be nice and easy. I will list the game matchups each week and you pick who you think will win. Most winners at the end of the season will be crowned champion. Tie breaker will be decided by guessing the final combined points in the Super Bowl.

I'm interested but I want to make it more interesting. Let's involve money in this. I seem to be much more involved once money is involved. Not even a large amount. Maybe 10 bucks or something. I'm in other fantasy league's like that and I like that method. Either way I'm down.

Maybe do two divisons. The overall where anyone can play and then those who are playing for the money prize will have a seperate standings.

I wanted to change my NYJ pick to SD yesterday, but wasn't sure if that was OK to do. Are our picks final once we post them or can we change them any time before the games start?

That's up to the majority. I think the 1st game of the week should be the cut off point for making changes.

i personally dont have a problem with it, as long as anyone else dont. it does make it a lil more of a pain in the ass when you go back to calculate peoples scores and there are changes. perhaps a happy medium, games that day have to be in by the first game. that would make it easier on here. that way if you get killed sunday and wanna change your monday pick you can.

another thing i kinda was thinking about too. i kinda feel bad bob wasnt able to put his picks in because of the drama he was having with his sister and shit. i was wondering if anyone is opposed to having an auto spot of 5 or something in case somone for whatever reason cant get on or is away to make their picks. i think it would help still keep people interested in the pool to in case they happen to miss a week so it doesnt turn into like how the horse racing one did. like in that if you misses a few days people pretty much hung it up. but basically so the privledge doesnt get abuse make it a 3 week maximum or something. that way you give people plenty of chances to remain apart of it if they want. if they miss more then 3 weeks they obviously arent that interested. was just feeling somewhat thoughtful so i figured id throw it out there.

im in a pick-em league on yahoo. except they have a confidence point system. if there are 16 games you have 1-16 points to wager on a game. if there are 13 games its 1-13 confidence points for each game. for your most confident picks you use higher points and for less confidence picks you use lower points. its a cool system but one upset can destroy your card pretty uick.

I have been trying to think of ways to make the playoffs work also. Does anyone like the idea of increased points for playoff games?

im kinda leaning towards something seperate for the playoffs. maybe go with the confidence points system or something.

maybe for this, to help the people who missed a week or two, throw in some kinda bonus. like anyone who can predict all 12 teams to make the playoffs gets like 10 bonus points or something. make it so the picks have to be done before week 9 starts or even make it one point for every team correct or something.

i was thinking about this in a couple different ways.

one way was the first round each game is worth 1 point. division round 2 pts. championship round 3 pts. and super bowl 5 pts. or maybe 4 and 6 or whatever for the last 2 rounds depending on what ryan wants.

if we even wanted to make it trickier, we could do something similar. but instead your allowed to pick one team for each round of the playoffs for both afc and nfc. once you pick a team you cant pick it again till the superbowl. so like for instance dallas makes the wild card and you think they will win the superbowl you dont want to pick them first round because you will want to save that pick for a later round. but obviously you can pick the same team to win the nfc and then to win the superbowl. the point system would still be the same. the teams you pick in the first round would still only get a point. second round and so on and so forth. its a lil harder to keep track of but it makes the strategy a lil more interesting.

I sort of have a biased opinion on this one.....I say start from scratch.

i think this system would make it interesting enough to keep going. if anything dave you have like a 10 point cushion going in. it benefits you the most.

i say make it a continuation of the season..... but perhaps we should do a poll on it.
