A woman charged in the fatal shooting of her husband at their home in the Northgate Forest subdivision in north Harris County early today would not let deputies inside and demanded they get a search warrant.
Diana Alonzo, 46, was charged today with murder in the shooting death of John Alonzo, 39, at their home in the 3400 block of Aspen Bend, Harris County sheriff's detectives said.
Deputies went to the home after someone there called 911 around 2 a.m. today. When they arrived, they found the man's body in the entryway, and a woman shouting at them to leave.
The woman tried to keep deputies away by demanding a search warrant, but was eventually arrested. John Alonzo had been shot in the chest, deputies found.
Detectives said the couple had argued, but it was unknown what about. Diana Alonzo would only tell them the shooting was "an accident," but would not elaborate, sheriff's reports show.
The couple's 9-year-old son was asleep at the time of the shooting and was unaware any violence had occurred, homicide detectives said.
Diana Alonzo's bond is set at $30,000. She has no prior criminal record in Harris County.
