Newark Police have cited a 28-year old man for OVI and driving under suspension after discovering he crashed a motorized barstool on a public street while under the influence of alcohol.
On March 4, officer Michael Trotter responded to the area of 566 Kelley Lane to assist Newark Fire with an accident involving a motorized barstool.
Police say the man claimed the barstool could reach speeds of 38 miles per hour, but was only going about 20 at the time of the crash.
Newark police is reminding citizens that operating any type of machinery after consuming alcohol has devastating consequences.

i dont think i would want to do 40 on that thing. 20 would even hurt like hell crashing on that.
this is my guess as to what the guy looked like.

i would say he's DE-pickled even!! :giggles:
That would be sweet if my riding mower could hit speeds like that.
My brother who died two years ago started a neighborhood gang in Florida who had annual lawnmower races down the street. These guys would build their super mowers all year long getting ready for this big event. They would change the pulleys, belts, put big wheels on the things, etc. Then, they'd throw a big neighborhood party, get shitfaced and drive these things down the street (a quiet area with little traffic). Over the years it got bigger and bigger and attracted crowds, probably mostly people with nothing to do on a Sunday and heard there was beer. Anyway, a lot of fun.
Sorry to hear about your brother. I hope the neighborhood still gets together every year. Would be a nice tribute to your brother.

I don't even really know my neighbors to be able to do anything like that. Of course, that sucks because I'd probably be pretty good at it.

Thanks, he was a good kid and we were the closest in the family with each other so it sucks, but life goes on. He moved down there to be near his wife's family so he still has in-laws who will probably keep it going....didn't hear anything about it last year though.

Problem around here is the cops take that kinda shit a bit more seriously. Down there I'd imagine the local constable was probably on one himself.
