Report: Automaker's customers don't want Sirius because they don't want to listen to the shock jock.
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - A surprising number of Hyundai customers said they didn't want Sirius Satellite Radio installed in their vehicles because they objected to Howard Stern, according to an auto news Web site.
The so-called "shock jock" will broadcast on Sirius (up $0.08 to $5.33, Research) Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. beginning in January 2006, said Inside Line, an online news source that is part of Edmunds.com. Edmunds.com is a partner in CNN.com's automotive news and information channels.
Hyundai recently surveyed 300 to 400 customers as it was deciding whether to choose XM (down $0.10 to $28.14, Research) or Sirius Satellite Radio in as an option for its vehicles. Hyundai ultimately decided to go with XM.
The automaker will roll out a fall program that offers 90 days of free satellite radio programming with its new models, starting with the Santa Fe SUV, and the Sonata and Azera sedans, according to Edmunds.
John Krafcik, Hyundai vice president of product development and strategic planning, told Inside Line that executives were stunned by the number of "unprompted write-ins" on the survey that said customers were "not comfortable with programming from Stern."

I've never heard anything bad about a Hyundai. I was actually thinking about looking at some of them once I get a new job for another vehicle.

Their worth depreciates fast, but they have an impressive warranty.

I don't give a shit what their worth is. If they stay running, I'll run it into the ground. I heard the warranty is 10 years, 100,000 miles. I'll take it.

They are strict as hell with the warranty, you have to get the service done exactly when it says or your warranty is void.

If I had a warranty that good, I wouldn't mind doing what they want when they want.

I don't know anyone with one either. I just figured I'd post that because you had mentioned possibly getting another car or something.

Actually, I know one lady that owned one, I just don't know whatever happened to ger. She's the lady that won that first contest at Crossgates where you live in the Kia to win it.

Howard is retarded now, I can't imagine the show getting any better on satellite radio. What's the point, so he say say more words? The guy has a degree from Boston University and he has the mind and attitude of a 15 year old.
That's pretty stupid in my opinion. Sirius offers a lot more programming, a lot more celebrities, a lot more varied music, and is just better in general. They could just you know, not listen to that station. I didn't get XM because Sirius has more country stations (they do), I just choose not to listen to them.
Sirius is a better quality product, has no commercials (XM still has some), and I absolutely love it.
Just another case of a few hard-ons ruining things for other people.

I've never had it nor known anyone with it. Is it just like those stations on cable that play a certain kind of music? Or radio AOL?

For that kind of money I'll be whatever they want me to be. Plus there's not much more I can add. If you don't like it shit or get off the pot. Its that simple. If it's more complex than that then you need more excitement in your life.

Yes and no. They have several categories, Talk Radio, Comedy (standup and clips from comedy shows), Sports casting live football games.
Then they have music, every single kind of music out there has a sub-category on Sirius. There's also several different stations playing different kinds of that music. I like alternative rock. There's three alternative rock stations that I can choose from, guaranteed on one of them is on that I'll like. They not only have every kind of music, but a station for every genre inside that kind of music. I can choose it to remember a song, so if one of my chosen songs comes on on any station, it'll let me know so I can switch to it.
It's not just pre-chosen automatic songs though. There are DJ's, extremely talented DJ's who can be funny and entertaining but don't waste time talking, they go straight back to the music.
And, sirius has no commercials, whatsoever.

I think I like commercials sometimes. I know on WGY I always have something I want to go look more into once I get home.
