Recent fires prompting rumors and concerns

Robin Street, First Street, Central Avenue and now Grand Street. Four fires -- all row homes, all originating from the back of the homes.
"This is not a coincidence, I can tell you that. I've been the Mayor for 12 years, we've never had two and three alarm fires this close together at any specific time. So, I'm holding my people accountable and telling them to find out, find out what's going on," said Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings.
As the investigators search for clues, rumors float through the city like clouds of smoke. Some believe there is a lone arsonist loose on the streets. Others said it's a gang issue. Police insist both rumors have no evidence to back them.
"I think that's off base at this point. I don't know where that information came from, but it's just rumors. Particularly, that came out of the last two fires on Robin Street and First Street, but right now there is no credible information pointing to that," said Detective James Miller, Albany Police Department.
But, if all four fires are considered suspicious, then who is to blame?
"We're talking to a lot of people and hopefully we'll be able to deduce who has been involved. If it is the same individual or groups, we'll be able to find out, cause this is a dangerous, dangerous situation," said Jennings.
Officials said they have investigators working around the clock to find clues to the fire puzzle, and the mayor has asked the city to keep a watchful eye on its neighborhoods.
"Keep their eyes open, report any suspicious activity to us, and knows what's going on in the lives of your children and those around you," said Jennings.
