PEDRO, Fla. -- A 17-month-old girl was killed when a pickup truck ran her over at a Marion County landscape design and nursery business.

Little Jadynn Hofferbeth was playing outside at Creative Landscape Design on Thursday when she was run over by the truck's left front tire.

The driver, 21-year-old Jeremy Harriott, stopped right away.

Authorities say the death was an accident.

Harriott was later arrested on an outstanding warrant but he was not charged with running the girl over.

Harriott voluntarily allowed troopers to draw blood so lab tests could determine if he was under the influence of alcohol.

If it was an accident, it was an accident. If he was under the influence, then I would consider it his fault. Its sad though.

I agree with Amy. Totally sucks... but it seems like it was an accident, and not everything needs to have blame assigned. I mean, if you were in a truck, backing up, with the blindspots and a little kid was behind the truck (probably in your blind spot since they're so small), and you ran over her, would you feel like you should be charged with murder? manslaughter even? Negligible homicide? I dunno. The real blame should go to the kid's parents, where were they? Kid playin by a truck? Seems like the parents could have avoided this situation if they were keeping a better eye on the kid. But then again, I'm not a parent.

I'm assuming it was a daycare, something tells me that with the nursery thing. I'm sure if there is someone they can blame on this they will. Shannon is right, what was the baby doing in the road or whatever.

It says Landscape design and nursery. Like, they do landscaping with the plants and flowers and trees that they got there.
