SCOTIA -- A Schenectady woman who has been convicted of driving while intoxicated eight times was arrested a ninth time Wednesday, police said.
Heather Higgins, 52, of Palma Avenue, was arrested on felony DWI charges after her vehicle struck a telephone pole on Mohawk Ave. at 5:30 p.m. She has been convicted of the same felony five times, police said. The other three convictions were for misdemeanor DWI.
Police said Higgins was taken to Ellis Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released into police custody. Police said her license was suspended.
Higgins is being held without bail at Schenectady County Jail and is scheduled to be in village court Thursday evening.
