All Hail The Bass Queen

Like all great clubs around the globe, The Amphitheater in Ybor City seems to keep the talent rolling in week after week. Last Saturday we had the chance to enjoy special guest Suzy Solar melt the vinyl to a trance addicted crowd. This Saturday, February 19, arguably the best female DJ in the world takes to the tables for some breaks supreme. After only four months, Bass Queen Baby Anne will make yet another appearance at The Amp. Fresh off the release of her latest mix compilation "Mixtress", Baby Anne will release a tirade of beats on a bass hungry crowd. After seeing the lines to get into Amp the last few weeks, I strongly suggest getting there early. I'm not kidding; it was like a scene straight from Mansion in Miami. Everyone was jockeying to get a place in line, dropping names, hoping the velvet rope would be opened just one more time. Ah, dare to dream.

With Baby Anne on the cards this week, you have chance to witness one of the country's most popular female DJs. Her hi-octane sets of breakbeat energy, fused with heavy doses of Miami bass has rocked many a dance floor at clubs from coast to coast. Encouraged by her good friend DJ Icey, Marianne started spinning in 1992. Icey had seen her on the dance floor "busting out great moves" and they became instant friends. He encouraged her to start spinning so she bought her first set of Technics and never looked back.

The Orlando based DJ has a number of singles to date, including "Trippin' On the Bass," "Abercrombie," and "Bass Queen," as well as "Freak's Groove" on DJ Icey's Zone Records, plus singles released on other labels including "Fury" on Moonshine and her latest "Mixtress." Her signature sounds will electrify your heart, tap your soul, and free your mind of all inhibitions. Joining Baby Anne on stage will be Amphitheater residents Kidd Leow and DJ Mondo. Make sure you visit the VIP room, tip your bartenders well and buy some shots from the creative cocktail waitresses. Of course, we've made sure to highlight them in our photo galleries.
