A judge sentenced a Bay area nanny to 15 years in prison Friday.
However, 14 years of the sentence were suspended, meaning Sarah Slicker will only spend one year in the Pinellas County Jail, along with two years of house arrest and 10 years probation.
If Slicker violates the law or her probation, she will have to return to prison for the 14 years that were suspended.
A jury found Slicker, 23, guilty on Feb. 2 of lewd and lascivious acts against a child in her care, a second-degree felony. She stripped off her clothes in front of a 4-year-old boy in January 2004.
"In my mind and from a criminal perspective, Mrs. Slicker, this is a timeout for you," said Judge Brandt Downey on Friday.
The child's mother returned home unexpectedly early to catch Slicker in the act. Slicker claimed she was teaching the child an anatomy lesson.
"It's not about as much the length of prison time to us, but that Judge Downey made a statement to perpetrators out there everywhere, women and men alike, that this is not tolerated," said the child's mother, who did not want to be identified.
Slicker will have to register with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a sex offender and will not be allowed around children alone.
Slicker's attorney said Downey was fair with his sentence.
