It's almost that time of year -- prom season. The annual rite of passage has become a major investment for high schoolers. Some experts said the average student will spend $500 on prom night.
The Cinderella Project was formed last year to help students out.
In just a few months, the program has collected more than 1,200 prom dresses for Capital Region teens. But they're not stopping there.
The 2004 Albany Tulip Court is collecting items for the Cinderella Project.
With the help of the 2004 Albany Tulip Court, the organization is collecting shoes, earrings and all the other trinkets a young woman needs for the big night.
Tulip Queen Meredith Rose said, "We've been fortunate to have all the resources of the city of Albany behind us all year, and we thought we could put that to really good use throughout the year."
