A mall in Massachusetts issued an apology after a 4-year-old girl was apparently told she was not allowed to sit on Santa's lap unless she purchased a $21 picture of the meeting, according to a Local 6 News report.

Maria Grigorian said she took her daughter, Michelle, to the North Shore Mall in Peabody to visit Santa Claus.

However, when the 4-year-old got to the front of the line, she was not allowed to sit on Santa's lap because her mother did not have cash to pay for the picture.

Grigorian said the least expensive photo offered was $21.

"I am a single mom and don't have that money right now," Grigorian said.

Michele was so upset over the incident that she burst into tears and left with her mother.

"To see her crying and saying, 'Mommy I just want to tell Santa what I want for Christmas,'" Grigorian said. "I was heartbroken, totally heartbroken."

An official with the Northshore Mall has apologized and said a meeting with Santa is free of charge.

How can adults knowingly break a childs spirit and belief in Santa/ Christmas. I agree when did it cost something to sit on Santa's lap. My kids growing up many times sat on Santa's lap without me buying pictures. SHIT, $21. for a pick with Santa. Thats robbery.

It's ridiculous lately. Last year they tried telling me Jordyn couldn't sit with Santa unless I got a pic. I told the kid running it; if Santa looked like Santa and not a drunk I would have no problem buying a picture. Fucking Santa's beard wasn't white, it was dirty and he looked like he just stepped off the back of a refugee truck.

I'd have no problem buying the picture for the kid if I had the money. But being the parent of four kids, money gets tight. I don't believe that the kid should have turned away for not purchasing the picture. I'd understand if the stay on his lap was somewhat abbreviated, but if it were forbidden, I'd raise a scene. It's exactly shit like this that demonstrates how far from the actual meaning of Christmas this country has gotten.

Thats insanity.
Christmas for kids is special. To have that taken away is gay. I would flip the fuck out and want more than an apology, thats for fucking sure.
Down at the park, the pic is like $5 and its a polaroid. They dont care if you buy it or not, you can take your own pic.

The one in Crossgates the other nigh looked just like him. Real beard and everything. Not one of those overly white strap on things, it was his real slightly grayed beard. It was neat. Dom was happy.
