"Friends of Music" fundraiser

Musicians and music fans gathered to raise money for a cause very near to their hearts Saturday night."Friends of Music" is an organization dedicated to giving children the opportunity to learn to play musical instruments.

Various bands were at Northern Lights in Clifton Park to raise some money for the group. The concert is called Prague Octoberfest, and was hosted by the local progressive rock band, "Fear of Flying."

The lead singer of "Fear of Flying", Tearle Ashby said "It's an investment in our future. Those of us who love music want the legacy of music to continue on. So by getting young folks to get into music and learn how to play, it just carries on the legacy of great music."

Fellow band mate and organizer Tom Occhiogrosso said "You know, instruments are expensive and not everybody has the chance to have an instrument starting out. So the ability to raise money for somebody who could rent an instrument or pay for their lessons or raise grants so they could participate in the New York State competition. I think it's great."

The band hopes to make this an annual event.

Concert stabbing under investigation

Authorities are investigating a stabbing at a popular concert venue. It happened Saturday night at Northern Lights on Route 146 in Clifton Park. Hip-hop artist Fat Man Scoop was performing, and the venue's website says the show was limited to ages 13 through 18.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Department, who is handling the investigation, is not releasing many details at this point. There’s no word on the conditions of any possible victims.

Kevins friend wanted him to go with him and a bunch of other kids to a concert last year that was for 13-18 yr olds and i said no......the place is usually a nightclub in downtown ft. lauderdale and it just didn't feel right, glad i didn't let him go.......oh, and by the way, i'm feeling reeeally old, i don't know one of those bands on the venue up there.........BUT, i'm going to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers Jan 30th!

A lot of the acts at that place are local or smaller bands. It's not exactly all that big. It can probably hold about 400 - 500 people. I haven't heard of most of them either.
