Son Gets Marijuana for Doing Homework

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A woman admitted to smoking marijuana daily with her 13-year-old son to reward him for completing his homework. Amanda Lynn Livelsberger, 30, pleaded guilty to several charges Monday and will be sentenced Nov. 27.

Livelsberger, of Conewago Township, admitted in Adams County court that she had been smoking marijuana with her son since he was 11, and that she often gave it to him as a reward.

The boy told police that he was required to do his homework as soon as he got home from school, and then was allowed to smoke marijuana with his mother, according to court documents.

Livelsberger pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors, possession with intent to deliver drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of a small amount of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The plea did not stipulate a sentence.

The woman also said she also smoked marijuana with two of her son's friends, ages 17 and 18, police said. The 18-year-old also told investigators he had also bought heroin from Livelsberger.

to me pot isnt a serious drug problem. its no worse then drinking. what scares me is that she gave it to him at 11. i was 14 before i took my first puff. if he was around that age, id prolly think she was a genius. teens are gonna drink and smoke and go out and party anways. may as well use it as inspiration to do well in school. as a parent your kinda a boss, and as a boss your job is to figure out what motivates your employees to perform better and make them content.

The issue i have is that this parent is promoting drug use to a pre-teen child.

For people who think pot is completely harmless, all you need to do is spend some time around mine & MERV's boss. He is a chronic pot smoker and it shows.

This mother is setting this kid up to fail in the end. I agree that you will never be able to completely keep your kids from drinking and smoking and doing drugs and having sex. But you need to try and teach them the good and bad of all these things and hope that they make a good choice.

Any parent that offers drugs to their child for motivation or any other reason shouldn't have custody of their child. I'm talking children under legal age, whatever happens after that, the kid old enough to make their own decisions.

While it may be harmless, it renders the user fucking useless.

It also speeds up the process of alzheimers. So anyone who says pot is harmless is a tool.... Marijuana induced dementia is everywhere.

The other part of that story is her being accused of selling heroin. Who is to say that she hasn't been giving him heroin too.
